Description:
This camp is designed to teach the fundamental skills of alpine running and develop the strength + endurance to execute those skills safely, effectively, beautifully.
Alpine Running is everything that trail running is with the addition of: ridgelines, scrambling/light rock climbing, snow & ice, off trail routes, scree, and steep dynamic terrain.
Meet 3 days per week for 3 weeks at a local alpine trailhead location.
Meeting days: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays
Each day is 5 hours from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Except for the last day, which will be for 6 hours from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Ages: 8 to 12 group
Parents are responsible for their child’s transportation to and from the trailhead meeting location.
Max # of participants per group: 8
Prerequisites:
Some outdoor experience
Good fitness base (can continually move for 5 hours with moderate breaks)
A desire to learn how to move through the mountains efficiently, effectively, safely and with fun.
Some rock climbing experience (Recommended)
Trail running experience (Recommended)
